Edscha Builds New Plant In Russia

~ 150 persons to be employed in Togliatti in the medium term
~ Production of hinge systems to start in 2014

The international automotive supplier Edscha today laid the foundation stone for its new plant in Russia. At a formal ceremony Edscha CEO Torsten Greiner gave the go-ahead for the company's first Russian plant.

Starting in autumn 2014, Edscha will manufacture door hinges and other products for the Russian market in Togliatti, about 1,000 km southeast of Moscow. The company plans to employ more than 150 persons
there in the medium term.
Some 2.9 million passenger cars were sold in Russia in 2012. The country is one of the world's most dynamic automotive markets, with double-digit growth rates. Up to now Edscha has not had any production capacity here.

"The new plant in Togliatti gives Edscha an excellent opportunity to penetrate the booming Russian automotive market and generate more sales," says Greiner. In Togliatti Edscha will begin by manufacturing door hinges, liftgate hinges and rear end door hinges for a Russian automaker. Some 2.5 million
parts will be produced each year.
Major expansion by Edscha in 2013
"The construction of our new production plant marks another important step in our worldwide expansion plan," explains Greiner. In July 2013 Edscha founded joint ventures in Thailand and Korea. In late August it opened a new production plant in Kunshan, China. "We are now very well positioned to tackle the challenges in the market. Our goal is to take advantage of the opportunities arising in new markets and strengthen our position as a technology leader," states Greiner.
