Pirelli To Supply Dutch Supercar Challenge From 2014

Pirelli UK Motorsport is happy to announce a partnership with the Dutch-based International Supercar Challenge to supply tyres from its Didcot based Motorsport Technical Centre. This three year contract brings the Italian firm's involvement with motorsport championships across the globe to over 250.
Formed in 2001 and regularly attracting grids of up to 80, the Supercar Challenge features a wide range of supercars and provides thrilling race action as seven different classes of GT, touring cars and sportscars all compete against each other on the track. Last year's title went down to the wire with two drivers finishing the year tied on points but the 12th Dutch Supercar title was eventually awarded to the driver who had scored the most race wins.

This year's Supercar Challenge calendar encompasses eight race weekends, and has also welcomed the Slovakia Ring, to the series for the first time. Other race venues include Spa, the home of the Belgian Grand Prix and Assen, host to the Dutch round of Moto GP and Zandvoort on the coast of Holland.

Next year, one event is scheduled to take place at Donington Park and another at the Nurburgring in Germany. There is a press and test day planned for 4 April 2014 ahead of the first race of the season at Zandvoort.
Pirelli Benelux Managing Director, Gianluca Renato, said: "This championship completes the Pirelli Motorsport activities in Belgium and Holland, as we are already single tyre supplier for the most prestigious track day events as well as one of the biggest players in the national rally trophies."
Pirelli UK Motorsport Operations Manager, Matthew Corby, said: "As a leading tyre manufacturer in the premium sector, Pirelli supplies a number of road tyres to supercars including Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. Our expertise in this area has also allowed us to transfer our road product knowledge to supercars racing in various championships across the world. In endurance racing, we supply tyres to both the FIA GT Series and Blancpain racing championships and back in the UK, we have been supplying the GT Cup Championship and its wide-ranging supercars for several years. We are looking forward to working with Dick Van Elk on this exciting championship and will be supplying a vast range of Pirelli tyres from 15-inch to 19-inch fitments to cover the spread of cars competing."
